The political affiliation by requesting the ballot of a political party in a partisan primary election. If you do not desire to affiliate with a political party in Ohio, your were considered to be an unaffiliated voter and may vote the Official Questions and issues ballot, if there is one for your precinct at the election.
The registration process must be postmarked or received by the 30th day before the election in which you wish to vote. However, if the voter registration deadlines fall on a day when offices of the Secretary of state and county Board of Elections are closed, the deadline is extended to the succeeding business day when the office is open.Sponsored Links:
Applicants may register to vote in person or by mail. Registration must be completed at least 28 days before the election. Applicants can obtain an application and register to vote in any of the following locations:
- County election boards
- Public libraries
- Public high schools or vocational schools
- Department of Health and mental health
- Department of Jobs and Family Services
- Department of Developmental Disabilities
- County treasures offices
- Offices for disabled students at state-assisted postsecondary institutions.
Ohio has implemented an online voter registration system. Residents can register to vote by visiting the website.
One the Election Day at the polling place, Ohio law requires that every voter announce the applicant full name and current address. Additionally, voters unable to present a form of valid identification, the applicant can provide driver’s license number, state identification number, or the last four digits of a Social security number and cast a provisional ballot.
As per April 1, 2019, 35 states enforced voter identification requirements, a total of 17 states required voters to present photo identification; the remainder accepted other forms of identification.
